TBS New Version – 2.14.0

Hello again!

It’s been a long time since the last update! I’ve been really busy with a personal project that had nothing to do with software development—on top of the usual daily work, family, and so on. But now, right after the macOS update, I’ve finally got some time back to take care of this app—not only to keep it up to date and supported, but also to keep saving energy and contributing to reducing our emissions :).

I’ve just added a couple of new features that I wanted to release quickly, since many of you have requested them, along with some other minor improvements:

  • Override when charging: Many of you have asked for a mode that keeps Turbo Boost enabled while charging or plugged in, regardless of any other auto mode configuration. Done! A new global setting in auto mode now makes this possible, as shown in the following screenshot:
  • Help at startup: For newcomers, it can sometimes be a little tricky to set up the app, since macOS has been changing the way kexts, helper tools, and other privacy settings must be authorized. To make things easier, in addition to the existing Help option, I’ve added a small first-run help window to remind users of the steps needed to get the app ready to work.
  • Internal improvements: Auto mode now consumes less CPU by caching certain requests to macOS, helping save even more energy.
  • Compatibility improvements: Since very old macOS versions no longer receive updates from Apple, I’ve added a few tweaks to keep the app working smoothly and compatible with current encryption algorithms and other technologies.

I know macOS will be the last version compatible with our Intel® Macs, but as long as users keep using and supporting this app, I’ll be here to maintain and update it.

Enjoy!
